Navratri Puja / Durga Puja
In India many festivals are celebrated and one of them is Navratri this festival is celebrated across India. It is a nine day festival people follow fasting and do puja at home and there are Pandals set where people come to worship the god and also at many places especially Gujarat they play Dandiya and Garba. Everyone dresses up in colorful clothes and the tenth day of Navratri is called Dasera. It is a grand celebration across the country.
The importance of Navratri festival is victory of good over evil, the defeat of Mahishasura by Goddess Durga. Durga Puja is celebrated at large in Bengali Community. Though Navratri and Durga puja both festivals appear to be same but there is difference in the way each state celebrates and does the Puja.
Maha Shivratri Puja
Maha Shivratri is celebrated all over India it is one of the darkest night and is celebrated for as an anniversary of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. People also believe this day Lord Shiva saved the world from the pot of the poison. People follow fast on this day, visit Shiva temples, they listen to shiva stories and chant mantras. Shivratri Puja is performed whole night there is huge line of devotees at the Shiva temples to offer they prayers to Lord shiva. Mahashiratri puja is done on the fourteenth day of the Lunar cycle in the Phalguna or Magha month as per the Hindu calendar.
Holi Puja
Holi is also called as festival of colors. It is one of the Hindu festival which lasts for two days. It is celebrated across India but more prominent in the Northern and western parts of India. The Holi Puja is performed to bring good luck, better health and wealth to the family. Lot of people comes together for the puja and the feast. It is also celebrated to mark the beginning of the spring and end of the winter season.
People observe fast and do the Holika dhan puja and lit the pyre. Many people worship lord Krishna different states has different cuisines made for this day people enjoy the food and the colors during this festival.
